- Deadline for Submission of all the entries - March 15, 2018
- First round of judging - March 2018
- Second round of judging - April 2018
- Prize distribution or Awards day - June 5 2018 (Tuesday)
Q. Who is eligible to participate and what is the cost per entry?
Any 6th-8th grader in Washington, Oregon, Montana, Wyoming, or Idaho is encouraged to enter. This contest is Free of Cost

Q. What are the categories or topics for my submission?
The submissions are largely divided into three categories:
- Essay (400-500 words)
- Video
- Poster
Submissions in any of the above three categories can choose to enter contest in any of the following four topics:
- Animal Research Helping Humans (ARHH)
- Animal Research Helping Animals (ARHA)
- Animal Research Helping Biomedical Technology (ARHBT)
- Animal Research and Indigenous Knowledge (ARIK)
All the submissions can choose to enter as a General or an ELL entry.
Q. How do participants submit their entries?
- Review the requirements and scoring guidelines to make sure the entry contains all the required elements.
- Follow the submission process. (All entries must be accompanied by a completed Title page and adhere to the naming convention.)
All the entries will be judged in the first round. The top 10% will advance to the second round of judging. After the final judging, NWABR will provide all the participants with a copy of the judges' comments and notify the winners.
Q. What if I need help or support ?
NWABR staff members are available to come to your classroom to introduce the contest with a presentation on biomedical research and also brainstorm with them to help them choose and research their topic.
