Jennifer Hansberry, RN, BSN
Jennifer Hansberry, RN, BSN, Board Emeritus 2017, has been the Administrative Director of the Swedish Center for Research and Innovation (“SCRI”) since 1999. She has been involved in research at Swedish over the past two decades and is responsible for providing direction and leadership for the management of all research projects performed within Swedish Medical Center facilities; including its campuses in Ballard, Issaquah, Edmonds, and Seattle. She works closely with Swedish’s Institutional Review Boards on the rapidly expanding array of federal and commercial trials conducted by Swedish Researchers.
SCRI makes significant contributions to medical research every day with more than 700 projects conducted each year; supporting collaborations with investigators locally and abroad. Over than last decade, nearly $70 million worth of private and federal research has been conducted at Swedish.
Major accomplishments under Jennifer’s leadership include:
- Creation of a centralized infrastructure that supports Investigators with application, contract, budget, fiscal oversight, and conduct of research projects and programs utilizing Swedish patients, facilities, or resources.
- Expansion of SCRI from a single department to ten distinct research programs employing 126 dedicated individuals.
- Instituting an agreement with Western Institutional Review Board to provide review of commercial sponsored research trials for Swedish.
Prior to becoming Director of Clinical Research, Jennifer managed federal and commercially sponsored research projects in the areas of pain and diabetes for nine years. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Seattle Pacific University. She is a member of the Society of Research Administrators, Association of Clinical Research Professionals, and the Health Care Compliance Association. She has served on the board of the Northwest Association for Biomedical Researchers (“NWABR”) since 2005 and is currently NWABR’s Secretary.
